Yeah ... what exactly was the moral of story #14 where Abraham was about to knife his own son on God's order's.
Oh , I know, obey ... no matter what I ask you to do. Sounds like Extremist 101.
i just got my hands on a copy of my book of bible stories ... (1978).
at first i was excited when a friend pulled it out of his bag, said he'd gotten it as a kid.
then i started flipping through, looking at the pictures, feeling the memories spin in my brain.

At first I was excited when a friend pulled it out of his bag, said he'd gotten it as a kid. Then I started flipping through, looking at the pictures, feeling the memories spin in my brain. I mean, these tales should've been good memories for me, because they take me back to a time when I believed stuff ... when I was bright-eyed and innocent.
I honestly loved this book as a kid. But now as I began to read these stories again, I understand how I was completely indoctrinated before I could even spell the word. The Genesis 34: 1-31 story of Dinah 'forced to lie down' with She'chem, which led to her brothers murdering She'chem 'and all the other men' in Ca'naan (who happened to worship false Gods). And the moral of the story ... this all happened because Dinah "made friends with people who did not obey God's laws. We will not make such friends, will we?"
So from the very start, at a very young age, they teach you to Obey or die. And stay away from people who are not JW's ... effective putting a serious crimp in the social life of youth when they need it the most.
What a horrible tool this book is! Indoctrinating children with colorful story after colorful story ... all with one overall theme .... Obey God or perish in the most horrible way. Yeah, Floods, Fire & Brimstone, pummeled with large rocks, pissed off brothers with swords, or maybe just Satan goading God (they used to chat a lot way back when) into torturing one of his faithful.
I want my childhood back!
ever notice how the "happiest people on earth" are also the most class-oriented?
to say that jesus said his followers should all be on equal footing, it's incredible how much the r&f witness is not on equal footing.
the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:
Why does it give me so much pleasure when they lose their grip on this imaginary power????
Tickled ...
... I don't know, but it does give a deliciously perverse pleasure seeing them go splat. I snicker, but I feel bad too .... sorta.

well ... it was just my mom and me so we started out in the single parent #7 slot ....
but i was the 13 year old aspiring sex fiend eternally locked in the bathroom plying my trade over any mag with a flicker of flesh in it.
mom however moved up in the world by retiring ... and then full time pioneering.
i mean, is it just me or is there a noticable increase in such over the last few months?.
it would appear too, that it isn't going to let up anytime soon.
odds are there will be even more.. but why?
The Truth is getter Brighter ....
light bulbs are going off all over the place.

great article here, from some university prof. doesn't seem he was ever a jw either.. http://libertyunbound.com/archive/2003_10/cox-truth.html
Any essay which uses the phrase 'American Values' in the first sentence immediately gives me the willies. Because any sensible person with a modicum of honesty knows that America was built on a lot of things ... most of which, had little or no value.

can anyone here point me in the direction of a copy of the talk or booklet online that can be printed?
i have a relative still 'in' that might accept that the 'food at the proper time' was missing here!
i think i used to have a copy of the booklet 40 years ago - but it is long gone.
blondie ...
thanks for the links!! awesome. strictly genteel is a most interesting site. and funny that it claims to be run by a dub. certainly the society wouldn't support it.
i love the of tracts, with the covers and text. most interesting. as a matter fact, im gonna use it to plant my seeds today with my mom and aunt. i'm gonna send then that page, and maybe the 1941 tract with the hopes the nostalgia will prevail .... and they'll browse the old titles, maybe even reading some of old mumbo-jumbo, most of which has been discredited by that pesky 'new light'.
this advert on uk tv at the mo is great.......reminds me of the transformers (robots in disguise!
) i love it.. hope the link works...... www.citroen.co.uk/c4/homepage.asp?pagetype=c4.
scoob
rockin ad scoob .... of course if my car did that, I'd run like hell.
i hate them.
and i find them boring......what's your take?
I did one season of american idol (the Reuben/Clay show) ....
and that was it. i refused to get hooked again. those shows can be like crack ... or this site.
who has that much time to waste?
as you know, a loyal dub is not supposed to watch stuff like pulp fiction, basic instinct, last tango in paris -- what films which are classics have you now watched and caught up with which you could not watch when you were a witness -- saw pulp fiction for the first time this week - brilliant
Fortunately for me, I was always a bad little dub ... I'd sneak off to go see whatever I wanted. And if it was 'demonized', I wanted to see it even more.
In my early teens I see the slasher and zombie movies ... my favorite still is 'Dawn of the Dead'.
